Companions and merging
Walking with a beast, the family traits it gives you, and merging into your beast with its moves and signature ability.
Any beast you own can walk with you as your companion. Once it is an adult, you can merge with it: you become the beast, move its way and fight with its ability.
Your companion
Pick a companion on its page in /beasts. You have one at a time on each island, at any stage, a Legendary included. Walking with you is only for show: a working beast keeps its habitat slot and its production, and a beast from the Reserve still makes nothing.
An adult companion gives you its family trait while you stand on your own island or a co-op island you belong to, but not in the Haven. /beasts companion hide hides other players' companions for you.
Family traits
| Family | Trait | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Meadow | Swiftness | Run faster: Speed I |
| Ember | Heat Shield | Fire and lava can't burn you |
| Tide | Tidecaller | Breathe underwater and swim faster |
| Highland | Surefooted | Take no fall damage |
| Canopy | Treewalker | Hold jump against leaves to climb them |
| Nexavyr | All five | Every effect above |
While merged you have your beast's family trait everywhere.
Merging
Merging opens with your first breeding. Your companion has to be an adult walking with you; /merge merges you and separates you again. It works on any island, in the Haven and in arenas. You need it in trials from tier III, against Wild Titans and Nexavyr, and in duels.
While merged
- You walk 20% faster and can jump again in the air. Veylark, Vortula, Kavrune and Nexavyr jump twice.
- Each beast moves its own way. Pouncers leap forward: Volshar, Scorvane, Torvail and Brambrax. Gliders fall slowly while you hold jump after an air jump: Bumbrel, Veylark, Myralume, Scorvane, Thalune, Nacril, Vortula, Torvail, Elytril, Nemorak and Nexavyr. Slammers dive with an attack in the air, take no fall damage and knock creatures back: Volshar, Tembrix, Dolmorr, Brambrax, Nemorak and Nexavyr.
- A strike deals 4 damage with 3 blocks of reach every 0.6 seconds, times your beast's Power.
- You can't place or break blocks, but doors, chests and menus still work. You keep your own health.
- Merged attacks only hit creatures, never players, except your opponent in a duel.
Dying, leaving the server, switching islands, changing your companion or riding something separates you.
