Breeding and eggs

Which pairs breed which species and how likely, what breeding costs, Lineage Charms, and eggs.

Two adults of the same family can breed an egg in /breed. Both parents stay with you, and they can breed again straight away.

Which species you get

Any two different adults of one family can breed. Beasts of different families never do. In each family, A is its first species, B the second and C the third.

The game shows which species a pair can give, but not these chances. After 5 paid breedings in a family, a quest gives a guaranteed egg of its third species. Traits follow the parents with a small chance of going up or down; see How parents pass traits on.

What it costs

Every breeding costs 40 Islemarks and 60 of the family's material from your island's storage, plus a Lineage Charm if you use one. The egg's species, traits and Radiant roll are decided the moment you pay.

A parent can't be locked, Legendary, or busy in an activity or a listing. A working parent keeps working.

Lineage Charms

A Lineage Charm gives the egg one parent's exact value for one trait, Production or Power; choose Pass on one trait when you breed. The other trait is rolled as usual, and a Charm can't choose the species. One Charm per breeding.

Charms open after 5 Meadow breedings, with the quest Myralume, guaranteed. Make one in /breed for 25 Islemarks and 60 of any family's material; Currencies lists the other ways to earn them.

Eggs and hatching

  • Your island holds 12 eggs, counting the ones incubating.
  • You have 2 incubators, and 3 after your first Nexavyr hatches.
  • Incubating in /eggs is free and takes 10 minutes; a Nexavyr egg takes 1 hour.
  • The Hatching Festival from the store makes ordinary eggs hatch 25% faster for everyone while it runs.

A newborn goes to work in its habitat if no copy of its species is working there, and otherwise to your Reserve. If the Reserve is full, up to two hatched beasts wait for room, and further hatches are refused until you make space.

Other ways to get eggs

  • Unlocking a family gives an egg of its first species, and its chapter quest an egg of its second.
  • A daily field study pays an egg of that family.
  • A beaten Wild Titan sometimes leaves an egg of its species.
  • Other players sell eggs on the Auction House.
