Growing up, training and care

How beasts grow from newborn to adult, what training and care rounds give, and the daily field studies.

A beast hatches as a newborn, grows into an adolescent and then an adult. Growing takes time, and it keeps going while you are offline and while the beast rests in your Reserve. Training speeds it up; care makes its habitat produce more.

Every normal beast, your starter included, takes 6 hours to grow up without training. Nexavyr takes 48 hours and can't be trained faster.

Training

Each passed training round, from /train or the beast's page:

  • pays 5 Islemarks, with no daily limit, plus 1 to 3 more from the Beastkeeping perk Trainer's rhythm;
  • takes 2 minutes 40 seconds off the beast's growing time, if it isn't an adult;
  • gives 18 Beastkeeping XP;
  • has a 1 in 4 chance to drop 8 building blocks of that family into your inventory;
  • counts toward family chapters, daily field studies and the Legendary preparation.

Training can take at most half of each stage off: 30 minutes of the newborn hour and 2 hours 30 minutes of the adolescent five. So a beast needs at least 3 hours to grow up. Training still pays once a stage's allowance is used up.

Care

A passed care round, from /care, makes the beast's whole habitat produce 5% more for 30 minutes and gives 14 Beastkeeping XP. It counts toward chapters and field studies like training, and can drop blocks too. You can care in a habitat again once the last boost has run out.

How a round plays

Every training or care round is a 30-second mini-game, picked at random from those you haven't played lately. A failed round pays nothing, and you can try again straight away. Both need the beast working in a placed habitat of its family.

Daily field studies

Each family has a field study that resets every day at 00:00 UTC. Finish 4 training or care rounds with that family's beasts in one day and you get a free egg of that family: a random one of its three species, with random traits.
